Skyline swept three doubles matches against Eastlake Thursday afternoon, beating their Plateau rival 4-3 at SHS.
The Spartans’ No. 1 team of Molly Knutson and Alyson Opitz beat Sara Marien and Tasnim Klessih in three sets, 0-6, 7-6 (6), 6-4. Nicole Nagao and Emilie Lehman defeated Nina Kondza and Beth Rheinberge, 6-3, 6-1, while Jasmine Munoz and Kimberly Matsudaria downed Lanie Graettinger and Brenna Drummond, 6-3, 6-2.
No. 2 singles players Kelly Boudwin added a three-set victory over Olivia Salak, 5-7, 6-2, 6-2.
Eastlake singles winners included Chelsa Tsujii, Hannah Salak and Kelly Song.
Newport ekes past Issaquah
Newport swept its top three singles matches to earn a 4-3 victory over Issaquah Thursday afternoon at NHS.
The Eagles earned victories from No. 4 player Morgan Gierke in a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Youny Kuang. The No. 2 doubles team of Katherine Allison and Nana Kida beat Crystal Shen and Miranda Edwards, 6-1, 2-6, 7-5, while Sabrina Norton and Sabrina Patton defeated Faith Mach and Alisa Tabiando, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
Blanchet downs Eastside Catholic in co-ed match
Eastside Catholic earned four victories Thursday afternoon, but still came up short in a 7-4 loss to Blanchet.
Eastside’s Mira Murali beat Emily Mahairas, 6-1, 5-7, (10-5) while Nicolette Dworkin defeated Sarah White, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.
The Crusader’s doubles team of Mark Scafidi and Jake Peterson downed Blake Loen and Kris Stroud, 6-0, 6-0 while the girls doubles team of Emily Franceschini and Morah Dworkin beat Elle Blume and Olivia Levis, 6-3, 6-4.

Skyline crushes Garfield at Jefferson Park
Skyline out-shot Garfield 252-321 at Jefferson Park Golf Course in Seattle Thursday afternoon.
Skyline’s Ashley Young took medalist honors with a 7-over par, 43. Emily Baldwin was second with a 44, Melanie Busch was fourth with a 51 and Amanda Caesar was fifth with a 56.
Eastlake downs out-shoots Liberty
Eastlake defeated Liberty 214-256 at Maplewood Golf Course Thursday afternoon.
The Wolves were paced by Dana Mydland’s even par, 36 performance. Tara Stenhouse and Emmie Schwartz tied for second with 42s, and Megan Weatherspoon was fourth with a 45.
BOYS LACROSSE
Tacoma sinks Eastside Catholic
Sophomore Max Jones equaled a season-high four goals to lead Tacoma past Eastside Catholic 13-7 Thursday in Division I high school lacrosse at Bellarmine Prep in Tacoma.
Eastside Catholic’s Michael Rambladini had two goals and two assists while goaltender Brandon Veyette had 14 saves. The Crusaders dropped to 3-8-0 with the loss.
Eastlake hammers winless Lake Tapps
Junior Patrick Keogh scored three goals to lead Eastlake to an 11–2 Division I win over Lake Tapps, Thursday in Sammamish.
The hat trick gave the midfielder a total of eight goals on the season. With the win, Eastlake moved within one game of .500 with a 4-5-0 record.
