The Issaquah baseball team passed its first test of the season Wednesday night, beating non-league Hazen, 6-2 at IHS.
The Eagles erupted for four runs in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth for a 6-0 lead. Shane Yarnell had a two-run double and Spencer Rogers added an RBI double. Connor Young also pushed a run across the plate.
Yarnell earned the victory on the mound, going five innings. He allowed one earned run and had six strikeouts.
Issaquah (1-0) faces non-league Kelso at noon, Saturday on the road.
SOFTBALL
Skyline improves to 2-0
The Skyline softball team improved its non-league record to 2-0 on Wednesday, beating Kentwood, 6-0.
Pitcher Elizabeth Stromquist earned the victory, allowing just two hits over her four innings of work.
The Spartans scored four runs in the third and two more in the fourth.
Margot Erwin was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, and Lindsey Nicholson was 2-for-3 with a run scored and two stolen bases.
Skyline (2-0) faces non-league Bellevue at 4 p.m., Monday.
LACROSSE
Issaquah hammers Mukilteo
Todd Jones scored four goals and had an assist as Issaquah cruised to a 15-1 Division I victory over Mukilteo Wednesday night.
Matt O’Neill added three goals and four assists and Kole Lindor lead the Eagles with nine ground balls.
Eastside Catholic downs Klahowya
The Eastside Catholic girls lacrosse team defeated Klahowya, 15-4, in a Division II matchup Wednesday night in Silverdale.
Amanda Tsitis scored four goals, while Alex Foreman and Lauren Breynaert scored three apiece for the Crusaders.
