The Spartans, who erupted for five runs between the third and fifth innings, were led at the plate by Nate Litka. The junior was 2-for-2 at the plate with a home run, double and, two RBI and two runs scored. Mikey Smith was 2-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored.

Skyline improved to 4-4 in league and 6-6 overall with the victory. Ballard, which was coming off an upset of first-place Redmond, dropped to 3-5 in league and 3-7 overall.

Eastside Catholic suffers first league loss

Eastside Catholic suffered its first league loss of the season Wednesday night, falling 14-6 to West Seattle at Bellevue College.

The Crusaders gave up two runs in the top of the second inning and were never able to take an advantage.

Garrett DeGallier provided half of Eastside Catholic’s offense with a three-run home run.

Sam Lindquist suffered the loss, as the Crusaders fell to 7-1 in league and 8-2 overall.

Issaquah falls to Inglemoor in extra innings

Inglemoor pulled off a 7-6 victory over Issaquah Wednesday night via a clutch two-out RBI single from Scott Meyers in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The Eagles took a two-run lead in the top of the first inning, and pushed the advantage to 4-1 in the top of the fourth. The Vikings battled back, however, taking a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the fifth. Issaquah tied the game in the seventh, before suffering the extra-inning defeat.

Marcus Gaan led the Eagles at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, and Spencer Rogers was 1-for-2 with two runs scored an an RBI.

Issaquah fell to 6-3 in league and 10-3 overall.

Eastlake comes up short to Roosevelt

Eastlake dropped a close 2-1 contest to Roosevelt Wednesday night for a sixth straight loss.

The Wolves tied the game, 1-1, in the bottom of the fourth. The Roughriders countered in the top of the fifth with a run of their own, and that was all they needed.

Sam Nasci led Eastlake at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a double. The Wolves were hurt by three errors.

Eastlake fell to 1-8 in league and 1-11 overall with the loss.

SOFTBALL

Eastlake fends off Skyline rally

Eastlake’s four-run explosion in the second inning was good enough Wednesday afternoon as the Wolves held on to defeat Skyline 4-3.

Lindsey Augenstein was 3-for-4 with a run scored in the second inning, and Lexi Jaeger was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Skyline rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, helped by a two-run double from freshman Mickey Dunn.

Eastlake improved to 2-1 in league and 5-2 overall. Skyline dropped to 2-2 in league and 5-3 overall.

Eastside Catholic hammers West Seattle

Shannon Deccio led Eastside Catholic with three hits and four RBI as the Crusaders beat West Seattle 10-4 on Wednesday afternoon.

Ronnie Mae Ayers was also 3-for-3 at the plate with an RBI. The Crusaders scored seven of their runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, improving to 3-3 in league and 4-4 overall.

TENNIS

Skyline nets win over Interlake

Skyline used three doubles victories to defeat non-league Interlake 5-2 Wednesday afternoon.

The No. 1 doubles team of Maggie Locke and Alyson Opitz defeated Nichelle Song and Molly Knutson in three sets, 6-0, 4-6, 6-4. Mackenzie Kuipers and Emilie Lehman, along with Niyati Raghavan and Kimberly Matsudaria also earned doubles wins for the Spartans.

Kelly Boudwin and Laura Parson earned singles wins for Skyline.

BOYS LACROSSE

Issaquah earns big Division I win over Eastside Catholic

Issaquah earned a big Division I lacrosse victory over Eastside Catholic Wednesday night, winning 17-3.

Jake Fritz had four goals and two assists, Todd Jones had three goals, and Kevin Powers had three goals and five ground balls. Michael Rambaldini scored two goals for the Crusaders, while Brandon Veyette had 16 saves.
