WIAA Rep. Assembly votes down helmet, shoulder pads initiative
The WIAA Representative Assembly voted down a proposed amendment that would have banned use of school owned helmets and shoulder pads during the off-season with 43 of 48 voters opposed.

The following amendments were passed after reaching super majority:
MS/HS #5: 17.5.7 – Coaches may meet with squads to prepare for summer leadership training
HS #8: 17.14.0 – Prohibits contests against college freshmen
MS/HS #9: 18.19.2.c – 8th graders may be used to salvage JV basketball teams to reach 16 players
MS/HS #12: 27.6.0 – Coaches may be penalized for violation of WIAA rules
HS #13: 51.8.0 – 10-run rule in baseball would apply in all regular and postseason games
HS #15: 57.6.0 – Running clock would apply in second half in 1B football with 40-point margin
HS #16: 63.5.1 – Criteria for two-day tennis tournament to count as one-day event
The amendments were proposed in February and were discussed at the Winter Coalition in March. The votes were submitted online and needed to receive 60 percent of majority approval to be ratified. Full text of the amendments can be found here.
The WIAA Representative Assembly is comprised of administrators from member schools in each of the nine districts. They are empowered to pass legislation and to direct the WIAA Executive Board to carry out its policies.
Boys lacrosse
Colin MacIlennie is the second leading scorer for Boys Division I with 43 points on 27 goals and 16 assists. Teammate Ross Komenda has 38 points and is sixth in the state. Matt O’Neill of Issaquah is fourth with 32 points and Skyline’s Ryan Benz is 10th with 24 total points on the year.
For the girls, Haley Mincin (Skyline) is third in the state for Issaquah with 50 points and Eastside Catholic’s Tristana Leist is seventh with 39 points.
